Morocco: Stricter technical specifications for type approval of terminal equipment and radio

Morocco's National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (Agence National de Réglementation des Télécommunications, ANRT) has published Decision ANRT/DG/N°12/23 delineating stricter technical specifications for type approval of terminal equipment and radio.

The changes include the following:

• New standards for technologies such as 6GHz Wi-Fi 6E, GPON, GNSS and ESIM (Earth Station In Motion) are introduced.
• Stricter regulations for electromagnetic compatibility, low-voltage electrical safety and human exposure to radio frequency are implemented.
• All user equipment with a cellular interface must now support at least 4G (LTE) technology.
• 5G user equipment must be 5G SA (standalone) compatible to ensure optimal network performance.
