National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) updates Type Approval Procedure

The Egyptian National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has recently updated its Type Approval Procedure, aligning it with the evolving telecom equipment technologies and market needs. Notably, new documents related to the product manufacturer (as the Brand Owner) have been added to the list of requirements

Customers must now submit the following documents in addition to the previous requirements:

  1. Light-Type Approval Scheme:
      • ISO Certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner)
      • European or US Test reports
      • Product Labelling Photos
  1. Tight-Type Approval Scheme:
      • ISO Certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner)
  1. Intermediate-Type Approval Scheme:
      • ISO Certificates of the manufacturer (brand owner)
      • Product Labelling Photos

The labelling requirements based on NTRA guidelines:

  1. For devices small in size that don’t allow for labelling of all required information, it is sufficient to label only the brand and model without violating other labelling requirements.
  2. Labelling is mandatory for the following items:
    • External Battery
    • Charger (or Power Adapter)
  3. If the approved product is sold in the market without its associated charger or power adapter, the user manual must include the technical specifications of the charger or power adapter, ensuring compliance with the product.
