MIIT’s Announcement No. 76 [2024]: Notice on Issuing the "Regulations on the Radio Management of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Equipment in the 900 MHz Band."

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has published the regulation "MIIT No. 76 [2024]” for RFID equipment in the 900 MHz band, which will take effect on November 1, 2024.

At that time, the previous RFID technology regulation, "MIIT No. 205 [2007]," will be abolished.

Type approvals that meet the original regulations before the implementation of "MIIT No. 76 [2024] " on November 1, 2024, will be processed as usual. After this date, only submissions that comply with the new requirements will be accepted.

Key changes in the new requirements include:

  • RFID equipment operating in the 840-845 MHz band will no longer be permitted.
  • The allowed working frequency for RFID equipment will be 920-925 MHz.
  • SRRC certification will be required for RFID equipment; a radio station license will not be necessary.
  • For RFID usage within 33 meters of railway tracks, approval from the National Railway Administration or regional Railway Supervision Administration is required.
