Lebanon's TRA Postpones Implementation of New Type Approval Regulations
On 16 April 2009 Lebanon's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) issued regulations establishing a new type approval regime. Implementation of the new regulations is now postponed to 28 September 2009.
The new type approval regulations require importers of radio and telecommunications terminal equipment (RTTE) and network infrastructure equipment to have telecommunications import licenses for the class(es) of RTTE and/or network infrastructure equipment that they will import. The regulations also stipulate that approval is granted only to local companies in Lebanon that hold the appropriate license.
The regulations also define a series of schemes for conformity assessment of various classes of equipment.
